SCHOOL DAY

The school will open to receive pupils between 8.55 and 9.10 a.m. Classes start at 9.10a.m. and end each day at 1.40p.m. for Junior and Senior Infants and at 2.40p.m. for all other classes.  Parents who wish to have their children escorted home should make their own arrangements to have them met at the school gate on time.

SCHOOL UNIFORM

Girls/Boys

Navy pinafore/trousers

Blue shirt

Navy tie with blue stripes

Navy cardigan/jumper

Slippers: Black canvas pumps for junior infants to 2nd classes.

Black or navy heeled slippers for 3rd to 6th classes.

School Tracksuit: Children must wear navy sweatpants, navy sweatshirt and blue polo top.

Cardigans and jumpers should be clearly marked with the child's name, to identify them.

Self-fastening shoes (Velcro) are highly recommended for Junior classes.

We would like to remind all parents that children should wear the school uniform at all times.  Non-uniform items of clothing, including sports jerseys, are not acceptable.  It is the parents' responsibility and not only the child's, to ensure that school uniform policy is adhered to.  Parents should ensure they have an adequate supply of uniforms for this purpose.

LUNCHES

The school policy is to implement a Healthy lunch programme and to make the school a virtual sugar-free zone.  Bearing in mind that lunch should provide one third of the child's daily food requirements, parents are advised to include in the lunch box, one food from each of the four food groups----Milk group, Fruit and Vegetable group, Cereal and Potato group and Meat group.

Pupils are responsible for keeping their own areas clean and tidy during lunch.  After lunch, each child puts his/her own litter back into the lunch box, which is taken home.

Children wishing to go home for lunch must bring written permission from parents.

APPOINTMENTS

If a parent has a concern about their child at school or an issue with any aspect of school life, they should approach the school with the concern, the class teacher in the first instance or the principal if appropriate.

- An appointment should be made through the school secretary

- State the purpose of your appointment.

In the interest of Safety and Security we would appreciate if parents and all visitors to the school would follow the following procedures:

- use only the main front door to enter the school (not the side doors)

- make contact with the Secretary/Principal

- please do not enter cloakrooms or toilets

COLLECTING CHILDREN FROM SCHOOL

In the interest of Health and Safety, we would ask all parents/guardians when collecting children from school

1. to collect children on time

2. not to allow children to climb the gate or wall

3. not to allow children to run around the school grounds at going home times. (This includes toddlers/children not yet attending school).

4. to be aware of the movements of cars on an already busy road.

Please keep mindful of these and any other hazards, risks and distractions associated with collection time.

MOBILE PHONES

To ensure your child's health and safety and with child protection issues in mind pupils are not allowed to bring mobile phones to school, in any circumstances.  This also includes out of hours or extra-curricular school activities.
