HISTORY
St. Kieran's N.S. is a co-educational primary school founded in 1945 under the patronage of the Bishop of Ossary. We are a multi-grade setting with four mainstream classrooms. St. Kieran's is an inclusive school making full use of our full time and shared Special Education Teachers and our Special Needs Assistant. We are in close proximity to a community based preschool and after school facility in Johnstown. This After School Club provides a collection service from our school for children from juniors to sixth class.
The school aims to provide a caring, happy and secure environment to help all its pupils achieve their full potential. We encourage children to adopt a strong work ethic and endeavour to inspire a love of learning in each child in our school. We work hard to ensure that our school is a happy place based on good discipline and mutual trust between parents, children and staff. We achieve this by working closely with our Board of Management, our Parents Council, our students and the community as a whole.
Our school is located in the picturesque and historically rich village of Johnstown. We are the heart of the community here in Johnstown and take great pride in being an intergral part in different communitiy initiates and projects.
